Introduction

Numerical Methods

Computer programming is an essential part of the work of many scientists and engineers. Solving problems in physics often relies on a numerical method when an analytical method is complex or not available. In such cases computers are employed to perform the numerical calculations with speed and accuracy.

The Course

This course is for the Engineering of Physics students in the University of Gaziantep.
The aim of the course is to solve the problems used in physics and engineering by numerical methods. Mainly, the topics include: Linear Equations, Interpolation and Curve Fitting, Solutions of Differential Equations (see content).

In addition to programming the course introduces the student to the Linux operating system which he/she will use for writing and compiling and running Fortran programs in programming lab sessions (see labs).
